SafetyLayers is built so your place’s information stays yours. This policy covers the SafetyLayers Map app for iPhone and iPad and the waitlist on this website.

Your place stays on your phone
The app works fully without an account. The places, plans, markers, checks and notes you create are stored on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing leaves your device until you sign in and turn on sync.
If you sign in
Sign-in is optional: Apple, Google, or a one-time code sent to your email. When you sign in and turn on sync, we keep a copy of your places in the cloud, in a US region, so you can back them up, use them on your other devices and share a place with people you invite. The people you share with get the role you give them: Editor or Viewer. Signing out keeps the copy on your phone.
No tracking
We don’t collect analytics or advertising identifiers in the app. We never track people. A position is only ever a deliberate scan or tap. Plans belong to their owner, and we never sell them.
What the app asks to use, and why
The app asks your permission first, and keeps working without the ones you decline.
- Location: to put your place on the map, and to show where you are on its plan when you ask.
- Camera: to scan rooms and to photograph equipment you add.
- NFC: to read a tag on a piece of equipment, so a check is recorded against the right item.
- Microphone and speech recognition: to dictate notes. Dictation is turned into text on the device.
The website waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and, if you give them, your role and organization, plus the page you signed up from and the time. We use this only to tell you about SafetyLayers. We don’t sell it or share it for advertising. The form has basic spam protection and no tracking cookies. Children
SafetyLayers is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date above changes, and the app tells you before anything new leaves your device.
